Well, 2011 was an interesting year.  Mum and Dad say they didn’t have a very good year, but I think it worked out okay.  I had seven teeth out last month, which has made me a much happier dog.  I really hadn’t realised how much they were hurting me and making me grumpy.

And the world is getting quieter and quieter; the Vet said that I’m going deaf.  I just thought everyone was suddenly speaking much quieter.  I can still hear a bit (mostly higher frequencies) but luckily Mum and Dad are working on hand signals for me so I can still understand what they want.

So I’m going to start 2012 quite a happy dog.

After the trials of the past 12 months, I am very pleased to have turned 13 the other day.  Of course, being so grown up and enjoying my birthday so much, I need to have a quick nap…

It has been a while since I could get my humans to update my blog; they have been very busy giving me medication and taking me on walks.

I had idiopathic meningitis and have been very sick for a number of months.  I’m still coming off my medication but I’m feeling a lot better than I was; I can go for walks and jump on the couch and go for a little run.

Thanks to everyone who sent me very nice messages while I was sick; hope to see you all soon.

I’ve been feeling a little poorly the past couple of days.  I’m not sure why; I’m just feeling a bit off and not myself.  My human took me to the doctor last night and while he was very nice I would have preferred to not go.  He took blood and urine (that was not an experience I’d like to repeat) and apparently everything is normal.

I’m just going to do a fair bit of sleeping and see if I can’t make myself feel better.

I did something a little bit silly today.  I was digging in the garden (which isn’t the silly bit) and soehow managed to get under the deck.  Now under the deck is a very wonderful place to be because it is quiet, and dark, and cool, and full of great bugs and stuff.

But  after a while it is a little scary.

And I couldn’t work out how to get out again.

So I had to wimper and cry until Ashley realised I was under there.  He then called out for Morgan (who collapsed into a laughing fit for a minute) and then they both got me out from under the deck.

I was very dirty (which doesn’t fit with my lovely white fur) so Ashley put me in the spa for a couple of minutes and game me a wash down.

Hmm, perhaps now I’m clean and dry I’ll go and see what bugs I can find in the garden to chase…

ToBirthday boneday is my birthday; I’m 12 today.  I had my friend around for dinner last night and the humans made me spaghetti bol with cheese on it.    Then I got a present – a very tasty bone biscuit with a candle in it.

I’ve had a great birthday.

Oat and Carob Dog TreatsMorgan made me some special treats today.  She got a great book full of recipes as a gift and today she baked carob and oat biscuits.  I didn’t like them at first because I was asleep when she tried to get me interested, but later on when I was in the mood, they were just perfect.

Spent the day in bed today because it is cold and overcast.  But it is almost dinner time so I’d better think about getting out of bed.

After the walk on the beach

After the walk on the beach, the inevitable happened.  I still managed to wake up from my nap and demand a game with the ball though.

Oliver on the beach

I went down to the beach with my family this afternoon and had a huge run around.  Then I went exploring in the dunes.  I was so tired after my walk, but it felt fabulous to have the wind and the sand in my fur.
